YORK TECHNOLOGY, IN PLAIN ENGLISH

Explore today’s YORK technology.

Look for the features that fit your priorities. Availability depends on the exact equipment and matched system, not the SEER2 number alone.

Two-stage comfort

Two levels of heating or cooling output help your system respond to lighter and heavier demand, supporting more even indoor temperatures.

Compressor staging is different from furnace burner staging.

Inverter-driven comfort

A variable-speed compressor adjusts its output to changing heating and cooling needs, helping maintain steady comfort.

Examples: HH8 and YH9 outdoor heat pumps. Their control requirements differ.

Variable-speed airflow

A variable-speed indoor blower adjusts airflow to support quieter circulation, more even temperatures and humidity control when paired and configured correctly.

This describes the indoor fan, not the outdoor compressor.

Hybrid heating flexibility

Pair a compatible heat pump with a gas furnace for electric heating with gas backup when conditions call for it.

Compare both heating systems and how the controls choose between them.
Which technology is in the combination I’m considering?

Open a combination below and inspect its exact models and listed blower and furnace-stage information. Features vary by model and matched system. CATZ confirms final equipment, controls and performance during system design.

Modulation and variable speed: an inverter-driven compressor varies its output. This does not mean its paired gas furnace has a modulating burner. The current catalog’s listed furnace stages are single-stage or two-stage. A multi-speed or constant-torque ECM blower is not automatically the same as a variable-speed blower.

EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS

These are catalog equipment combinations to explore, not a final recommendation. CATZ must confirm sizing, equipment compatibility, availability and the installation details for your home.

Look beyond one number: efficiency and comfort explained

SEER2 describes seasonal cooling efficiency. HSPF2 describes seasonal heat-pump heating efficiency. AFUE describes annual furnace fuel-to-heat efficiency. Higher numbers indicate higher efficiency within the same rating measure; they don't establish your home's savings or the best system for you.

A higher SEER2 does not establish better heating efficiency. Compare HSPF2 for heat-pump heating and AFUE for a gas furnace. Equal HSPF2 ratings do not guarantee equal cold-weather heat output or utility bills.

Comfort is a separate conversation. Staging, blower operation, controls, sizing and installation affect how a system operates. Compare listed features separately; a rating number alone does not establish them.

Ratings shown are catalog values for the listed combinations. Current certification needs verification. Equipment performance and energy costs depend on the home, climate, operation and installation.
